Thank you for your interest in the Rice Fire Department. 

The Rice Fire Department provides both fire and rescue services to the City of Rice and the rural areas of three townships: Graham, Watab, and Langola.

Application Requirements

  • You must not be under eighteen (18) years of age.
  • All candidates must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • All candidates must not live more than 6 minutes away from the Fire Station, traveling under normal driving conditions, as driven by the Fire Chief or an appointed member of the membership committee.
  • All candidates must possess a valid Minnesota Driver’s License

Application Procedure

  1. Complete the application below and submit it.
  2. Upon receipt of your application, we will:
    • Review and verify application information
  3. We will then contact you to schedule:
    • An Orientation Session
    • An Oral Interview
    • Physical Agility Test
  4. If City Council extends a conditional job offer, we will do:
    • Drug Test
    • Physical Exam
    • Physical Agility Test
    • Criminal background check, including driving record
    • Psychological Exam
